Blaze

It’s been a couple of days since the party, and I’m in bed holding my sleeping angel. She’s on her side with pillow cradling her body, and her back pressed to my chest. Then, she woke a couple of hours later with server back pains and has been up most the night. I rubbed her back for hours trying to get her comfortable and finally she was able to fall into a fitful sleep. It’s around ten in the morning, I texted Ace to let him know how our night went. We’re still with him for a few more days, until our apartment is ready. Our guest decided to stay through the weekend.

I’m in the middle of texting Throttle, Brook makes a fast move pouncing back into my chest hard and screams. Taking the breath out of me and scarin’ the shit out of me in the process. Her scream is like nails on a chalkboard. I regain my breath and move back to lay her flat.

“Angel, what’s wrong?” I ask panicked. I couldn’t hold it back if I tried. The look on her face of pain slays me. Before she can answer me, the bedroom door burst open, breaking the lock in the process as Ace and Jules run in.

“What the fuck, man?” I shout at him. We could have been naked in here. What the hell is his problem?

“Fuck you, man. I know the difference between a scream of pain and a scream of pleasure,” he says matter of fact. He’s not mad, just concerned.

“Both of you shut the fuck up,” Brook shouts at us and we stare at her. My girl doesn’t curse unless… “I’m in labor, you fools. Get me to the goddamn hospital. Right the fuck now!” she screams. God, I love her take no shit attitude and sassy mouth.

Wait, did she just say she’s in labor.

Fuck.

I jump out of bed, in just my boxer briefs, grab for my jeans and shirt off the rocker. I throw my boot and kutte on and then go to my girls’ side.

“Get her dressed and to the hospital,” Ace orders me. “We’ll grab her suitcase and I’ll call the doctor. We’ll all be right behind you. Move it, brother.” I watch Brook doing her Lamaze breathing that Sam coached her with and feel... Helpless.

Shit, I need to get my head on straight and my ass in gear.

“Angel, I’m gonna get one of your dresses, ok.” I go to the closet to pick out one of her sundresses. I figure it’s the easiest to put on instead of shorts. Once we get to the hospital, it will just have to come off.

“Jaxson,” she whines, and I regard her in bed trying to move. I don’t think, I just react and rush over to help her out of bed.
